The Future of This Blog

Kanon 2006When I decieded to start writing an anime blog I was pretty sure I’ll enjoy writing episode summuries and posts for every new episode I watch. The truth is I enjoy it for some serires and hate it for another, altough the main problem is that I just don’t have enough time to write for every episode that I watch and I can’t spend that much time on the blog. So from now on I’m going the change the I’m writing about new anime shows.

First change is that I won’t write a new post for every new episode, I will write one when an anime begins, somewhere in the middle and a final overview. When I feel like writing (example Death Note is anime that I can write more about) I will write, but the posts won’t have names like “Death Note episode 17″, they will be not only about the newest episode but about many things about the anime, previous episodes and so on.

May be I will start writing news and more about asian movies, which I love so much. I’m thinking of starting writing about my all-time favourite animes, that were released before 2007, for them I’ll write big articles discussing all their aspects like story, animation, characters and probably I’ll put a raiting from 1 to 10.

Well… I know this blog is new, but I really want to write it and enjoy it, so I think in this new way I’ll write more and the most important thing is when I enjoy writing, you’ll probably find the posts more interesting.

Thank you for reading ^_^

Venus Versus Virus episode 1

I watched the first episode three days ago, but I am writing about it right now. I hope in few days to start writing in the blog regularly. Anyway, Venus Versus Virus is a new show that started this winter. I have heard a lot about about it before it was released. Many people say it was a shojo-ai version of Bleach. Well at the moment I can’t say this. Having seen only the first episode I can say that I’m not a big fan of the show for now and there is nothing lesbian in it, for now o.O. It’s seems that Venus Versus Virus will get better in the next episodes. The characters are pretty interesting too.

The plot is about a girl called Sumire. She has special powers to see some kind of demons that are called viruses since a child. Of course no one believes her. One night she is saved by a girl that only looks like a gothic version of pirate. Don’t ask, watch and you’ll understand. The gothic-pirate’s name is Lucia Nabashi and she gives Sumire ad for a some kind of shop and when Samire goes there she is told by Lucia about everything. SO basically this is the plot, and here the action begins or I hope so…

In the first episode there is not so much action, it’s more about the plot and the setting. I personally need more than action in anime to keep my interest so that’s probably a good thing. Actually I expect a lot from this anime and hope not to be disappointed with the next. I can say only good things about the animation, character design is nice too, gothic-pirate chick looks nice after all, no matter she’s one-eyed. I didn’t really got why she’s one eyed. I mean obviously her “pirate” eye is really strange color (some kind of bright golden yellow?!), but I still don’t know what happened to her. May be in episode 2 I’ll understand why, or may be someone will tell me?

Death Note episode 14

Things are back to normal and we get Death Note regularly, the only difference is the group, but who cares since we got the newest episodes on understandable language, I hope soon Japanese to be understandable language for me, but for now it’s just a wish. So, this fourteenth episode of this extremely popular anime show is as good as the previous thirteen. I doubt there is someone who do not agrees that the show is good. If you ask me I’d say it’s great.

In this episode things are becoming more and more complicated since Misa showed up. She’s again so am… face it.. stupid. I mean she’s not the dumbest creature ever walked, but still she is quite naive and I think she’s too much into that “gothic-whatever” thing called by some “cool style”. I’m quite sure that she will do anything to be with Raito, even if she knows that he will kill her if he can, but for now it can’t happen because Misa’s shinigami is protecting her and if Raito kills her… yes he’ll die too. So the most interesting thing is that Raito finds a way to kill L through Rem. I know what will happen but prefer not to spoil it for you. I hate spoilers!

Everything else is like a typical episode of Death Note, in the end you always want to see the next. Interesting thing was when L told Raito that he is his only and first friend. In response Raito said that L is a close friend to him too. It was nice scene, I’m sure that Raito doesn’t meant it and L is such a suspicious guy that you can’t be sure whether mean it or not.

Kyoushirou to Towa no Sora 01 & 02

Seriously is there anybody who is not sick of this “romantic girls finds the prince of her dreams” stories? Add also a mix from almost everything you have seen in anime and you’ll get Kyoushirou to Towa no Sora! I thought first episode sucked totally. The plot was a total mix, there was too much of everything and as a whole I would not have recommended it to you. Thank God, the second one is quite better so I’ll continue watching for now. So what about the story. Kyoushirou to Towa no Sora is about a high school girl named Shiratori Kuu that finds her life empty and wants to find something interesting in life, probably love. She has that special dream where her prince comes to her and says “Come with me…”. Sounds dull to you? Well let me continue…

So when she’s dreaming the dude actually shows up as it-may-sound-like-surprise-but Transfer Student. I think Japanese people love transfer students, there are probably a hundred anime shows that are about or where there is transfer student. Whatever, so when this guy shows up and he has something special, all girls find him attractive soo our girl looks like “Omg that is my prince, my prince, my prince I’ll repeat it once more because nobody heard me, THIS IS MY PRINCE!” Who cares? So the prince stand on a meadow playing violin and looking all cool (yucks, this guy is really annoying but more about him later) and when he sees Kuu he, well, goes to her and really prince-like (imagine prince Charles doing this lol) rips off her shirt. OMG dude! After that she runs embarassed, which is totally normal. Later she understands that she’s somehow special and got that special thing that makes her the CHOSEN one. Really. After that there is action, meccha and many other things like destrcution of a school and stuff. Watch it - this was about the first episode.

The second episode is far better, or at least watchable and I personally enjoyed it. The characters that appeared are interesting. The prince is cool too.NOT! Really there is something in that man, boy or whatever he have to be. His prince that came out from Disney fairy-tale like type really annoys me. For now the prince is the most annoying part of the show, I’ll have to deal with it…somehow. Our girl is as cute her name - Kuu. She’s really very cute. And not only her, characters (except the prince) look good. Animation is also nice, and there is a lot of ecchi. Well I’m not quite sure whether this is a good thing.

Is ok if there are few scenes. But here there is evevywhere something sexual. Naked girls, lot of them! There is a bath scene that is not needed, but it looks like the creators know what the male viewer seeks. After the bath the girls have to fight almost naked some machines that attacked them during the bath. There is also a a scene where a naked girl comes out of the water (was that a lake? I honestly don’t remember). She talks about absolute angels (you’ll understand this when you watch) and about what a kiss can do. Then there is girl kissing girl scene. And Kuu even says “It’s Beautiful”. I’d prefer Kuu to become lesbian rather that be with that prince. I hope there is something interesting in this guy in the next episode, because now I really want to punch him…er sort of, if I can.

I will continue watching the series and probably will write here more about it. I recommend it to you too, it’s quite interesting and has good main character - Kuu, very naive but at least honest and pure somehow. And you’ll understand more about the Absolute Angels… you’ll watch it not because of the girl-girl kiss, you pervs.

btw, what are you using for the screenshots and the tumbnails…I’m really doing them slow and they don’t look very good :/ First I posted about 25 screenshots, but they didn’t looked ok. I guess I’ll have to find a better and definitely faster way. Ideas?

Afro Samurai 01

I wrote this post when the first episode was released. I know that the second is out too, but I prefer to start with the first and probably later today or tomorrow will write about the second. The same is for some other shows too.

Afro Samurai is the first new anime for 2007 and I’m starting the year with it. The special things in this anime are several. First of all (it’s not that important BUT) it was late with few months. The more interesting thing is that the anime aired in USA and in Japan on the same time. The main character, Afro, speaks with the voice of Samuel L. Jackson. The first thing that makes good impression is the animation. It is on really high level, very dynamic in beautiful, dark colors. Design of the heroes is stylish and the battles look awesome. Visually Afro Samurai is pleasure for the eye. Probably the battles and the animation are the two things that are really, really good.

The story for now is a bit of cliche, but it’s too early to be sure (although I’m almost sure that the story won’t be the strong side of this anime). The plot is about two ancient headbands wearing the numbers 01 and 02. (sooo, simple and easy to remember, may be that’s exactly what is intended). The one who rule (omg, stop me now) have the powers of god or something. I don’t know for you, but it’s sounds like Yu-Gi-Oh. Who rules the “add-artifact-here” will be like God. May be the Lord of the Rings? OK I’m really stopping. In the beginning of the episode the father of Afro Samurai rules 01, but he died in very nice looking battle. Afro, of course, was still a little kid that was crying and looking the cut-off head of his father. You’ll probably think it’s sad, but in the anime this emotion is missing. I don’t know, may be there is something wrong with me but it wasn’t looking sad… He of course is going to kill the killer, because “I want revenge”. One of the main plot lines is exactly this - finding revenge for his father. Well there are also dangerous enemies that want Afro dead, and probably he wants them dead too. So what we get? Blood&Battles! And is it enough? Well…

Heroes are cliches as a whole. Afro is the normal ‘cool’ type of guy. He speaks a little, he smokes something, he is killing better than Rambo and don’t cares whether he kills 1 or 16126. Cool guy. He always says things that are ready for “quotes” sections of the fan sites. Personally, I don’t like these type of heroes. There is “funny” talking-only-shit guy, who’s a coward and always walking after our hero. Seriously is there an anime from this type, where this type of hero is missing? Visually Afro Samurai gets an A, for plot and characters is too early. One is sure I will continue watching this show and I recommend him to you, it’s nice entertainment, only because of the action for now, but who knows there are surprises. After all, there is only one episode released. Oh, I forget to write about how bloody is the show. It really, really bloody. There are tons of blood everywhere. Afro Samurai is highly violent and if you don’t like violence in anime, don’t watch it.

yeah, this is the first post

First posts are always probably the ones that nobody reads, including me. New blog, few visotors who came by accident, there is small chance this post to be read by as many people as I want. Well I don’t want. There is no sense in this post, it’s not about anime, it’s just first post after all. So… Haruhi, I want her on my blog ^_^

Hello! This is my anime blog and it, as you can see, is in English. I have another blog that is called “Ewws, Yucks and Blahs” that is in Bulgarian and it’s about everything (may be from now on, except anime). Here I will write about the ongoing anime that will start in 2007, 2008 and so on. I will writea a post about every episode, or I think so now. Sometimes I will write about older and completed series or movies that I like and just want to write about. The only ongoing anime (for now!) from 2006 that I will be writing about is Death Note. Because… it is that good. The name of the blog, Words Like Violence has a small story. I thought that this name is great for anything - song, blog whatever. And I thought that it’s purely mine, but after half an hour I found from where I’ve heard these words, that’s right - Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence (great song). Words like Violence, Break the Silence… Really weird… But I still like the name. Afro Samurai is the first new anime for 2007, so the next post will be about it.

I also want to thank Maestro for giving me this great hosting for free :)

Words Like Violence

is a blog about anime, manga, Japan, Asian cinema and things connected with them written by Stanimir Katsigrov (but you can call Stan or something). I hope you enjoy it ^_^ btw, I know that I took the name from that Depeche Mode's song, for more info see the first post, and the blog is not about bad anime (don't take the sub title too seriously ^^)
